JOIK started in Tallinn in 2005 with a simple idea: plants that grow in Estonia's clean air and hard seasons make good skincare. Twenty years later, we still make our products in our own facility in Tallinn.
The name
A joik is a traditional song of the Sámi people of the Nordic north. It is not sung about a place, a person or an animal: it is sung to evoke them, to carry their spirit.
We chose the name because it describes how we work. We respect nature, we value knowledge passed down through generations, and we pair it with modern formulation science to make products that are as effective as they are responsible.
2005 to today
A small Estonian team starts making natural skincare and wellness products from local botanicals.
Formulation and production happen in our own facility in Tallinn, so we know how each batch is made and who made it.
JOIK earns Ecocert certification for its organic ranges, audited again every year.

Estonia is one of only seven countries in the world that meets the World Health Organization’s strict air quality guidelines. Cleaner air means stronger, purer plants. The name Joik is inspired by an ancient singing tradition of the nature-loving Sami people — a unique form of cultural expression that conveys deep emotion, honors nature and tradition, yet evolves with the modern world.

JOIK’s skincare is independently certified organic by ECOCERT — a European certification body that verifies strict standards for ingredient sourcing, formulation, manufacturing, and sustainability. This is not a self-declared claim. Every product, every ingredient, every process is independently audited.
To earn ECOCERT certification, a brand’s finished cosmetic product must be made with ingredients of at least 99% natural origin, with organic ingredients making up a significant portion. Synthetic fragrances, parabens, GMOs, and harmful chemicals are strictly prohibited.
All raw materials are verified for organic origin and ethical sourcing. Synthetic pesticides, GMOs and petrochemicals are banned.
No parabens, no synthetic fragrances, no silicones, no harmful preservatives. Every formula reviewed and approved by ECOCERT auditors.
